Side Effects and Contraindications:

Reversible HPAaxis suppression may occur with potential glucocorticosteroid insufficiency after withdrawal of treatment. HPA-axis suppression was demonstrated in two out of 18 adult patients with psoriasis treated twice daily for two weeks and one out of 31 adult patients with atopic dermatitis treated once daily for two weeks. HPA-axis suppression has not been evaluated in psoriasis patients who are less than 18 years of age. Because of a higher ratio of skin surface area to body mass, pediatric patients are at a higher risk than adults of HPA-axis suppression and Cushing’s syndrome when they are treated with topical corticosteroids. If irritation develops, Vanos Cream should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. Vanos Cream should not be used on the face, groin, or axillae; or for treatment of rosacea or perioral dermatitis. The most commonly reported adverse events were headache, burning at the application site, nasopharyngitis, and nasal congestion.
