Indications and Usage:
Famvir is indicated for the treatment of acute herpes zoster (shingles), treatment or suppression of recurrent genital herpes in immunocompetent patients, treatment of recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores) in immunocompetent patients, treatment of recurrent mucocutaneous herpes simplex infections in HIV-infected patients.

Side Effects and Contraindications:
Side effects may include headache, paresthesia, migraine, nusea, diarrhea, vomitting, flatulence, abdominal pain, fatigue, pruritus, rash, and dysmenorrhea. Famvir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the product, its components, and Denavir (penciclovir cream).
