Adoxa® (doxycycline monohydrate) Pregnancy D Pediatric

150 mg, 60-count capsules

Indications and Usage:

Adoxa is indicated as adjunctive therapy for severe acne.

Side Effects and Contraindications:

Contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to any of the tetracyclines. Due to doxycycline's virtually complete absorption, side effects to the lower bowel have been rare.
Adverse reactions in patients receiving tetracyclines include: Gastrointestinal effects: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, glossitis, dysphagia, enterocolitis, inflammatory lesions (with monilial overgrowth) in the anogenital region, rare instances of esophagitis and esophageal ulcerations;
Skin: maculopapular rash and erythematous rashes, exfoliative dermatitis, photosensitivity, renal toxicity (dose related);
Hypersensitivity reactions: urticaria, angioneurotic edema, anaphylaxis, anaphylactoid purpura, exacerbations of systemic lupus erythematosus;
Blood: hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, eosinophilia;
Other: bulging fontanelles in infants, intracranial hypertension in adults, brown-black microscopic discoloration of the thyroid gland (with prolonged tetracycline use).
