Side Effects and Contraindications:
Gastrointestinal effects: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, glossitis, dysphagia, entercolitis, inflammatory lesions (with monilial overgrowth) in the anogenital region, increases in liver enzymes, rare instances of hepatitis, liver failure, esophagitis and esophageal ulcerations; Skin: maculopapular rash and erytheamatous rashes, exfoliative rashes, photosensitivity, fixed drug eruption (rare), balanitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (rare), lupus-like syndrome, serum-sickness like reaction; Blood: hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, eosinophilia; Other: bulging fontanelles in infants, intracranial pressure in adults, headache, brown-black microscopic discoloration of the thyroid gland (prolonged periods of usage), rare cases of abnormal thyroid function, tooth discoloration in pediatric patients less than 8 years of age, tinnitus, and decreased hearing.
